Zirconia Crowns in Turkey

Zirconia crowns have largely replaced older metal-fused crowns for their strength and natural, metal-free look — and Turkey is one of the most affordable places to have them fitted well. This page covers the 2026 cost, how zirconia compares, and the treatment timeline.

From €150 per crown

Why zirconia, not metal-ceramic

Zirconia is a tough, tooth-coloured ceramic with no metal substructure, so there is no grey gum line and no metal show-through over time. It handles chewing forces well, which makes it a common choice for back teeth and full-arch bridges alike.

Zirconia crown cost in Turkey in 2026

At Tantalya, zirconia crowns range from €150 to €300 per crown depending on the case and finish; a zirconia crown placed on an implant is priced separately from one on a natural tooth. Your unit count and any underlying work (root canal, build-up) are confirmed in a written plan.

How many days a crown case takes

A typical crown or short bridge case is completed in one trip of about 4–6 days — preparation and impressions first, then fitting once our in-house laboratory has milled each unit. Same-week turnaround is realistic precisely because the lab is on site.

Caring for zirconia crowns

Zirconia is highly durable and commonly lasts 10–15 years or more with good hygiene. We finish the margins to protect the gum and give clear after-care so the crowns stay healthy long after you fly home.

Crown on a natural tooth vs crown on an implant

On a natural tooth, the tooth is shaped and the zirconia crown is cemented over it; it needs enough sound structure to hold, which is why a root canal or a build-up sometimes comes first. On an implant nothing is prepared: the crown sits on an abutment fixed to the implant, screwed so it can be removed for maintenance or cemented, as the plan states. It is priced as three lines — crown, abutment, fixture — so a package that quotes one number for an implant tooth is hiding two of them. Timing differs too: a crown on a tooth is made and fitted in the same week, while an implant crown usually follows osseointegration, typically 3–6 months after placement.

Monolithic vs layered zirconia, and which we use where

Monolithic zirconia is milled from a single block with no porcelain on top. It is the strongest crown we make and our default for molars, bridges and anyone who grinds; the newer translucent grades look far better than the opaque zirconia of a decade ago. Layered zirconia keeps the zirconia core but adds hand-built porcelain on the visible surface, applied by the ceramists in our in-house laboratory to reproduce the translucency of a front tooth. That porcelain layer is the part that can chip, so we reserve it for the teeth where the realism is worth it. Both carry the same 5-year guarantee; the choice is stated per tooth in your plan, and it is one reason a crown sits nearer €150 or nearer €300.

When we would not crown a tooth

A crown removes more natural tooth than a veneer or bonding does, and it is a one-way step. We crown a tooth that needs it: a large failing filling, a fracture, a root-treated tooth at risk of splitting, an implant that needs a tooth on top. We do not crown a healthy front tooth for a whiter smile, and we do not crown a full arch to make a package look tidy. If you have been quoted a set of crowns on teeth that have never had a filling, ask what will be left of them.

Your crown trip, day by day (about 5–7 days)

One trip, because the laboratory is in the building. The sequence is typical; your dentist sets the pace, not your return flight.

  1. Day 1
Arrival, CBCT and the written plan

Transfer from Antalya Airport, about 15 minutes to Konyaaltı. CBCT or X-rays, examination, and a frank call on which teeth need a crown and which would be better served by bonding or a veneer. For an implant crown, the scan confirms the fixture has integrated. You choose the shade from real zirconia samples and sign the plan.

  2. Day 2
    Preparation and digital impressions

A natural tooth is prepared conservatively, with any root canal or build-up done first where planned. On an implant nothing is drilled: the abutment is selected and scanned. Scans go straight to the laboratory, which usually starts milling the same day.

  3. Day 3
    Laboratory and try-in

Monolithic units are milled and sintered; layered units are built up by the ceramist. Where the case warrants it, an unglazed try-in checks shape, contacts and colour in your mouth before the final finish.

  4. Day 4
    Rest and finish

Typically a free day for you while the laboratory glazes and polishes.

  5. Day 5
    Final fit

Each crown is tried in, the contacts and bite are checked, and it is cemented on the tooth or fixed to the implant abutment as the plan states.

  6. Day 6–7
    Review and fly home

The bite is re-checked after a night's wear and polished where needed; you leave with the written aftercare protocol, the guarantee and the records pack. Single crowns often finish sooner; several units or root canals may need the full week.

An implant crown is usually the second trip, after osseointegration of typically 3–6 months, or the crown is shipped to your home dentist for fitting.

Issued in writing, in English, in your treatment file before treatment starts. Travel for a guarantee visit is the patient's.

If a crown fails after you fly home

A crown that chips, loosens or feels high once you are home is rare, and the route for it is agreed before you travel rather than improvised afterwards. Step one: message our coordinator on WhatsApp with photographs. Step two: your treating dentist, not a call centre, reviews the case within the week and replies in writing with a diagnosis and the recommended route.

Step three: a guarantee case — material failure of the crown within five years — is repaired or re-made at Tantalya at no treatment charge; travel is yours. A problem with the fixture under an implant crown falls under the manufacturer's lifetime guarantee registered in your name. Step four: if you need urgent local care, we release your full records the same day — CBCT, X-rays, the plan and the implant passport — so a UK dentist can act with complete information. Third-party fees are not covered unless agreed with us in writing beforehand.

Aftercare for crowns

Zirconia does not decay, but the tooth, gum or implant beneath it can. This programme keeps the crown healthy and the guarantee valid.

  • A written aftercare protocol is handed over at departure: cleaning at the crown margins, diet in the first weeks, and the night guard if one has been prescribed.
  • Annual digital check-up: once a year you send photographs, a short video or an intra-oral scan from a local dentist; your treating dentist reviews it and replies in writing. Missing it voids the guarantee, so we remind you.
  • The records pack goes home with you: the treatment plan PDF, the itemised invoice, your CBCT and X-rays, and for an implant crown the implant passport with brand, diameter, length and lot number.
  • The clinic stays reachable during the trip and after it; healing photographs are reviewed remotely by the same treating dentist.
  • Cold sensitivity on a crowned natural tooth usually settles over the first weeks. A bite that feels high should be adjusted, ideally before you fly, so say so on the review day.
  • Clean between the teeth at the crown margins every day and keep hygiene visits with your home dentist: periodontal neglect is on the voids list for a reason.
  • Wear the night guard if you grind. Zirconia is very hard, but grinding without a guard loads the crown, the opposing teeth and any implant screw, and untreated bruxism voids the guarantee.

Tantalya is responsible for the clinical work and for the written guarantee; the manufacturer is responsible for the implant fixture under its warranty; you are responsible for hygiene, check-ups and the night guard if one is prescribed. As a Ministry-authorised provider (ST-2095) the clinic is subject to Turkish patient-rights law and Ministry inspection, and a dispute can be raised with the Ministry of Health's International Health Tourism unit.

For UK patients

The NHS does not fund implants or cosmetic work, so an implant crown, or crowns chosen for how the smile looks, are private treatment in Britain. A finished single implant tooth privately in the UK is around €2,300–2,900, roughly £1,980–2,495; at Tantalya the same finished tooth on a Turkish-origin system is typically €500–800, about £430–690, with the crown itemised at €150–300. The tables above exist so you can compare like for like rather than package against package.

The General Dental Council regulates dentists in the UK only. Its advice for patients treated abroad — a written plan, a named clinician, a clear aftercare path — is exactly what we put on paper before you travel: the plan and guarantee in English, a named treating dentist, the aftercare protocol and the annual digital check-up.

  • Our equivalents: dentists licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health and registered with the Turkish Dental Association · clinic authorised ST-2095 · CE/ISO-certified · ITI-member lead dentist.
  • Your UK dentist keeps you on their books: the records pack and the implant passport let them maintain the work.
  • Direct flights from the UK to Antalya take about 4–4.5 hours; a crown case is usually one trip of about 5–7 days, with airport transfers arranged by the clinic.

FAQ

How much do zirconia crowns cost in Turkey?

At Tantalya, zirconia crowns are €150–300 per crown in 2026. A crown on an implant is priced separately. Your total depends on the number of units, confirmed in a written plan.

Are zirconia crowns better than porcelain-fused-to-metal?

For most cases, yes — zirconia is metal-free, so there is no grey line at the gum, and it is very strong. We advise on the best material for each tooth.

How many days do crowns take in Turkey?

Usually one trip of 4–6 days: preparation first, then fitting once our in-house lab has milled the crowns. The on-site lab is what makes same-week treatment possible.

How long do zirconia crowns last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, zirconia crowns commonly last 10–15 years or more. We provide after-care guidance before you travel home.
